I, however, received comments on how I should not have joined the Rounds as I went along the pattern and just sewed the seams together once the dress was done.
I concede that while it would be easier to change colors when the piece is worked flat, I wanted to avoid doing any sewing, so I always try joining the Rounds whenever I can.
So for the Barbie Colorblock Mod Sheath Dress, I designed a new pattern that is worked flat in Rows no Rounds this time and can easily be modified to suit whatever colorblocked design you want to do.
I made this dress two times, both shown in the main photo above, using different colorblock designs to achieve two different looks. I will be sharing both designs in this hub, so choose one you want to make first before following the pattern.
This design was made specifically for the Barbie Basics or Model Muse body. Note: In order to figure out if the dress will fit your doll, just sc the back seams together and try it on your doll.

Sew the back seam from the bottom until you reach the last 8 Rows of the back. Sew in a snap at the top to close the back. This pattern is perfect for using up those leftover balls of thread you may have lying around from another project.
You do not need to copy the color blocks exactly, just keep in mind to separate the blocks with several rows of your MC to achieve a mod look. Here are the changes I made to make this dress:.
